There's too much concern about "changing the nation" and not enough concern about letting God change us as individuals. Only Jesus can do that, and He can only do it with those who allow Him to. Yes, even as believers, there are some who are not allowing God to change them; to grow their faith.
If you ask some believers "do you trust God?", they'll say YES! But when the Lord tells them to sell their business, they refuse, and make the same old excuses like "how will I pay my bills?" and "how will I provide for my family?" You'll hit the ghetto streets to give the homeless wanderers a bottle of water and a meal, yet with a fellow believer in need, you demand their story first to determine whether or not you think they're worthy. When you know full well that the Lord says in 1 John 3:17 "If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion, how can God's love be in that person?"
Pastor, Dr. John Morgan says it well, "The way you change a nation is to change the individuals in that nation." Nations are not made up of land and water; they are people. In God's word, Israel is a type and shadow; it represents the people, not the land the people roamed on. We're so busy worrying about the U.S. and how we're going to save it that we've completely lost sight of the truth that God is trying to do something in US! How can we expect a nation to change, when the ones trying to change it aren't perfected in love? How can we expect to make an impact on our country when we have yet to grow in our faith to the level it takes to make such an impact?
The Lord will always care more about your personal and individual faith than anything else, including saving a nation; which only HE can do anyway, we're merely a tool. When He asks you to do something, even if it's ministry, it is always for the benefit of YOUR faith first! Yes, even if He's asking you to pray for someone, that too is about your faith first, not the person you're praying for. When the Lord is trying to get your attention, it's not because He wants you to do something for Him, it's because He wants your faith to grow and for you to learn to trust Him fully.
When you are seriously following the Lord 100% and surrendering your life to HIS will, at all costs, HE will PLACE you where you need to be; at the right time, in the right place, and in front of the right people. HE will cause you to be in position to work through you to do whatever He wants to accomplish; whether it's praying for someone, helping someone in need, or changing a nation. He will even bring the people to you, to give you an opportunity to trust Him. There's nothing wrong with choosing to do ministry on your own; but having the mindset of "I have to make ministry happen", rather than allowing the Lord to place you in your assignment, is taking God's matters into your own hands.
