Enemy Using Victoria's Secret

In Dumping Co's Who Support Your Disbelief, I shed light on how not spending money at an establishment because of their beliefs, won't solve problems. The inspiration came from an article regarding the CEO of Starbucks, who didn't want the business of anyone who believed in traditional over gay marriage. Shortly after, the Lord revealed a different perspective with a more disturbing situation; a letter that was written from the father of a 3 year old girl, to Victoria's Secret, regarding their new product line about to launch called "Bright Young Things". This sexy product is for "tween" girls...


Bright Young Things includes black, lace Cheeksters, with the word "Wild" on them; Hipsters with the words "Feeling Lucky"; and thongs; with the words "Call Me" on the front. Other sources say that with young teens representing over $335 billion in spending power, the CFO of Victoria's Secret, Stuart Burgdoerfer, couldn't refuse the dollar-sign temptations, over decency. Among the comments, a former designer for the line states that "sex sells, and there's nothing you can do about it." 

I understand girls may want to wear cute underwear, but during the development stage, who did they have in mind would see these, when selecting their quotations? A 12 year old in a thong is disturbing enough, but to advertise "I Get Around", "Let's Get a Room" and "Call Me" on the front; who are they expecting to call these girls? I am especially ill at the thought of what THOSE commercials will look like. Is it even legal to put a tween in their underwear on TV, and with the seductive trademark of Victoria Secret Models? To the claims that this line is for "college girls", don't think for one moment that the enemy cares they're a few years older. Let's just put it out there; the enemy wants these girls sluttin' themselves out, and he doesn't care how old they are.


To the consumer, this may just appear to be another pair of underwear. To the Fortune 500's, this may be considered a dominate target marketing scheme. (Clever though, you do have billions of people talking about you even more). To a Holy Ghost filled Christian, it's domination alright; the enemy's way of subtly dominating the souls of young girls around the globe. What better way to do it than by his oldest trick in the book, attacking their self-esteem. Not to mention, he's doing it through a multi-billion dollar industry. Low self-esteem is not a disease or weakness; it's Satan's most elusive and tantalizing way of slowly taking root. The emotional instability of your daughter won't happen by buying a pair of underwear. But don't be misled, this is how the process can begin. Satan doesn't care how long it takes to put holes in your daughter's heart, or any woman for that matter.


THE ENEMY AT WORK

Satan doesn't care about the details on how he corrupts; he wants girls to have low self-esteem. He wants them to get their affirmation and approval from anywhere else, other than God and typically from a man. He doesn't want girls to have godly parents; but he doesn't care if the parents are responsible or not. He wants them indulging in sexual immorality; drilling holes in their hearts so deep that they end up not trusting men. Worse yet, they don't love or respect themselves, often times they feel unworthy and he doesn't want them knowing who they are in Christ because he knows how dangerous it is to his cause.

SO WHAT MAKES ME AN EXPERT?

I am a 39 year old example, with first hand and experiential knowledge, of just how patient and crafty the enemy is. I give all glory to my Lord Jesus Christ for setting me free, but it took 39 years for me to finally see that the enemy had me in severe bondage. I was deceived; issues so deep rooted in my heart that I was not even aware that he was the one who started it all, tortured me and laughed at me the entire time. He didn't bother waiting until I was an adolescent either; the enemy started chipping away at my self worth, from the moment I was being conceived.

TEACH YOUR GIRLS WHO THEY ARE IN CHRIST
It is important to raise up your daughters to be established in who they are in Christ. It's important to be pro-active in having conversations with them about sex; that God created it and he created it to be enjoyable, within the realm of marriage. Teach your daughters that their value and self-worth comes from who they are in Christ, NOT in the way they look or how they dress. Girls who have these core values established in their hearts at a young age, will be more equipped to handle what society throws at them. However, it shouldn't stop there! When something like this new line of sexy underwear for young adolescents threatens to destroy the souls of millions of young girls, it needs to be addressed and it needs to be addressed globally, and NOW!

EVIL CAN STILL CREEP IN
Even when young girls are grounded in who they are in Christ, evil can still slowly creep in and corrupt good character. 1 Corinthians 15:33 (AMP) "Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations), corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character." The enemy can be so subtle that he can still get into your daughter's conscience and hurt her, without you even knowing it.  Our souls being anchored in Christ should start at home, but to the one who said (and anyone who believes) that "sex sells and there's nothing you can do about it", though sex may sell, I will boldly say you are wrong about there being nothing we can do about it!


God's power is bigger than any amount of money you can throw at advertising schemes. God's power is bigger than any marketing campaign you derive. God's power is bigger than any "supply and demand" and not only is God's power bigger than any person, corporation or billion dollar industry, you're now messing with the hearts and souls of his baby girls, so I have NO problem letting you know in the name of Jesus that something absolutely CAN be done! 


Not Spending Money Won't Solve The Problem
Regarding not spending money at an establishment, in an effort to fix things; it's still true that this won't solve the root problem. However, I definitely appreciate not wanting to encourage a product or service by feeding it funds that enable it to thrive. Let it be known, I don't have a problem with VS; there is a possibility in the future that I'll purchase something from Victoria's Secret; as I sometimes prefer higher quality undergarments, night gowns or body lotions and sprays. I even understand young women wanting high quality items like this. What I do have a problem with, is the verbiage placed on those undergarments. Which means I won't be purchasing anything from the Bright Young Things collection. Will that be the solution to this potential epic destruction of young women? No. 

Victoria's Secret is not the adversary. This battle is not with Victoria's Secret. They just happen to be Satan's next target; a multi-billion dollar playground with which to slowly invade the hands, homes and ultimately the hearts of every woman who buys the Bright Young Things products. Again, the enemy starts at an early age, but he doesn't care how old a woman is; adolescent, young teen, college girl, mid 20's or late 50's. Which is why I pray this goes further than a "political statement". I am beyond passionate about preserving the self-esteem of women and it begins in young girls. I want them protected from the enemy's sneaky attempts, by whatever means the Lord sees fit. I don't care how he does it or who he does it through. This issue is much bigger than money; it's spiritual warfare.
