The Truth about "The Word of God"

Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Some believers often pull out that one verse and claim "SEE, we must know the scriptures if we want to discern truth."  You can't stop there; the very next verse tells you that the word of God is not scripture, it's a “WHO”. Verse 13 says “And there is no creature hidden from HIS sight…". Who is "His" referring to? Jesus.

John 1:1 tells us "In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God". The word was God. Yes, the word of God is spoken through scripture, but the "LIVING" word is Jesus. Even with our human logic, how can we rule the word of God here is scripture; when there was no written scripture in the beginning?

Revelation 19:13 tells us "He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called the Word of God." The Word of God is a person; His name is Jesus. In fact, the scriptures say "you search the scriptures because you think they give you life, yet they point to me". How many believers cling to the scriptures as if THAT is their savior? The scriptures are obviously a significant way that the Lord speaks to us, but the scriptures are NOT the only means with which the Lord speaks. 

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS RESPONSIBLE

The Holy Spirit is the one who rightly divides; He is the one who speaks to us and unveils the hidden truths behind the scripture. 1 Corinthians 2:11 "no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God." 1 John 2:27 "But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie." For those who do not have the spirit of God residing in them; there is no hope to rightly divide or understand anything. There are Atheists who have memorized scripture, but what good is it do to so without the relationship; the Holy Spirit within? The "written word" isn't effectual without the "living word" inside your heart.

SURRENDER RENDERS A RECEIVING HEART
This is where the importance of being a believer and surrendered to the Lord's way is vital. The Lord speaks to you and reveals truths; but rest assured if you're doing things your own way, you won't listen to Him when He does speak to you. You'll likely hear Him, but you won't be willing to listen. How can you expect to heed the Spirit and receive all He has for you when you're in rebellion; being led by your flesh? The Holy Spirit WILL speak the pure truth to every person who exists...will you listen...
