The Scriptures are Not Living and Active

There's something the enemy is deceiving believers with and it's leading them in the wrong direction. I've written about it before, but I want to shed light on it once again and expose the lies. You've heard it; “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword..." and that's where most preachers stop.

You may have even heard a follow up with something like this, "Aren't you glad the bible is alive?" This dangerous method of forming a belief system from partial scriptures is precisely why many children of God are putting their faith in something other than Jesus; and they aren't even aware they're doing it. It's not wholly their fault; the enemy has their spiritual eyes covered.

Let us continue reading Hebrews 4:12-13, "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account."

Specifically, word of God here is the same Greek translation as in John 1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Word of God in both instances is "Logos"; meaning Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the second person of the Godhead. However, there are logical questions we could ask ourselves; questions like, "can scripture discern your thoughts and the intents of your heart?"  and "who is this person that all things are naked before; the one whom we must give account?" Only the Holy Spirit is capable of knowing our thoughts and hearts and Jesus is the only one we must give account to; not a piece of paper with ink on it.

Luke 24 reveals again the one who gives us understanding, "Then He said to them, 'These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me. And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.'"

I pray the Lord will touch you with these truths, so that your heart may be even further established in the proper perspective of what Jesus does for you versus the scriptures.
