The purpose of this is not to bash specific programs or those who attend, but rather to highlight the subtle deception of the enemy and offer a definitive and permanent solution. I've traveled a lot the last couple of years; visiting addict recovery programs to love on the participants, encouraging attendees in their journey, and hearing testimonies of those who've been members for years, sometimes decades.
I have also attended some of these meetings in the past to better understand what they teach, and I always left feeling demonically defeated. Every time someone spoke, my heart broke with sorrow and compassion; as the belief system ingrained in the member's minds is "you will always struggle for the rest of your life" and "once an addict, always an addict".
It's true that such programs may be helpful for some people, for a season, but these programs cannot offer complete freedom; predominately because Jesus Christ is not their answer. Even the programs that claim to be "Christ-centered" do not focus on the true deliverance available through Christ; rather focus is on trying not to do the thing you're addicted to. This is serious; the enemy continues to cause God's children to think they will always be addicts and that is not what God tell us!
COMPLETE DELIVERANCE & FREEDOM IN CHRIST
If you want true freedom and deliverance from addictions; it can only come through faith in Jesus Christ! If you're not saved then receiving Christ as your savior is the first step; and whether or not you're already saved, you should know that you CAN be PERMANENTLY delivered with NO urges ever again! Though Satan may try to tempt you; it won't effect you when by the grace of God, you're easily able to ignore it. This process will be different for everyone; as each of us has different levels of bondage we were in and therefore different degrees of mind renewal, but you do NOT have to struggle for the rest of your life! Doesn't this sound like the best news ever?

FOR BELIEVERS: TRUTHS TO BELIEVE AND SPEAK
If you're a genuine follower of Christ, it's all about your belief system; what you believe in your heart and speak with your mouth will determine your quality of life while here on this earth. I want you to be FREE INDEED; more importantly, the Lord wants you to be free! I encourage you to surrender your heart to these truths that God Himself promises us if we will only believe. Allow Him to establish these in your heart and speak them out loud, so that your mind can be renewed to the truth; you WILL see the addictions just fall off by the grace of God!
You are NOT a Sinner: The first thing to know, believe, and speak is that you are NOT a sinner anymore. You WERE a sinner that was saved by grace and now you are a SAINT. Your sin nature no longer exists, you are no longer under the bondage of sin, and sin no longer has power over you anymore. (Romans 8:1-10 AMP)
You are Righteous: You are righteous (in right standing) because of Christ; not because of what you think, do or say. If you have received the spirit of God then you are the righteousness of God in Christ, not yourself; so you can't boast about anything you did to be in right standing with God. Even while you're smoking the dope, drinking the drink or worshiping that person, you are STILL the righteousness of God in Christ! (Ephesians 2:8 & 9, Romans 3:22 AMP)
You are Made New: You are not the old person you used to be. Regardless of the things you've done; those things are things you did, they are NOT WHO YOU ARE. It is very important to understand that who you are is holy; spotless and blameless in God's eyes. (2 Corinthians 5:17 AMP)
You are Healed: The moment you received Christ, you WERE fully healed AND made WHOLE! This one is hard to grasp with your logical mind because you feel physical pain or you see the things you're indulging in, but this is a truth to receive BY FAITH. It is only by faith that this truth can be effectual in your life. (Isaiah 53:5 AMP)
You are Made New: You are not the old person you used to be. Regardless of the things you've done; those things are things you did, they are NOT WHO YOU ARE. It is very important to understand that who you are is holy; spotless and blameless in God's eyes. (2 Corinthians 5:17 AMP)
