Webster's Dictionary states that emotion is "a conscious, mental reaction (as anger or fear) subjectively
experienced as strong feeling, usually directed toward a specific object and
typically accompanied by physiological and behavioral changes in the body." Nowhere in the Bible does it say we are our emotions. However, your enemy wants you to think you are, so that you'll respond to them, instead of the truth...
I was in severe bondage in many areas, but one of the biggest bondages Satan had me in was my emotions were in control of me. As a redemptive prophet, my emotions were already more intense than any other redemptive gift; but paired with my entire life experiences, all I knew how to do was respond based on what I was feeling.
Your enemy wants you to think you've messed up when you feel an emotion, whether it’s considered appropriate or not. He whispers things like “How can you call yourself Christian when you’re not supposed to be afraid of anything?” or “Look at how you just responded, your heart isn't in the right place.” or “There’s been no growth at all; you’re acting the same way you did before you were delivered.” or “you’re not even delivered or you wouldn't have felt that way.” and “If God really had that much power, why haven’t those emotions and feelings gone away?” He’ll not only attack your responses, but he’ll attack your feelings and the emotions themselves.

Even on your worst emotional day, you STILL have ALL power and authority over him and his attacks. But the key is this…it’s ALL by FAITH! Your enemy wants you to think you’re weak in the moments you have emotions. He wants you to think you don’t have authority over him when your feelings are intense. He wants to instill fear in you, so that you'll focus on your feelings instead of the truth. Fear, in any form or area, is lack of trust.
God cares about our emotions; He created us to have them. However, while it is true that your emotions are not WHO you are, you don't have to let them control you. The only way to be in control of them is to know who you are and use your authority in the midst of them.
