SO WHAT ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF HIS FIERY DARTS?
Because there are so many people in the world, the devil's tactics will be approached differently with everyone. However, in a nutshell, no matter what you feel, think, do or say, your enemy will always try to convince you that you should feel, think, do or say something different. He'll consistently try to make you feel that you're not good enough, in whatever way he knows will work on you. Typically, and predictably, he'll try to make you feel like somebody or something else is better.
Physical Appearance Examples
If you're tall, he'll tell you it's better to be short. If you're short, he'll tell you it's better to be tall. If you're skinny, he'll tell you it's better to be thick and if you're thick, he'll tell you men like women better who are skinny. If you have long, brown hair, he'll tell you that you'd be better with short blonde hair. If you have a smaller chest, he'll tell you men like bigger, and if you have a large chest, he'll tell you it's too big. If you have brown eyes, he'll tell you they're boring and that you should try colored contacts. If you have pale skin, he'll show you a woman who's tan and cause you to feel insecure. If you're from India, with super dark skin, he'll show you a lighter skinned African American and tell you they're a better shade. If you have acne, he'll tell you you're prettier without it. If you have clear skin, he'll tell you your nose is too big, your chin is too long, your lips are too small or your jaw is too wide. If you have all of those latter things, he'll tell you they should be the former.
Spiritual Discipline Examples
If you attend church once a week, condemnation will tell you it should be more than once; that you should attend weekly services, praise and worship nights, or ministry classes. If you take communion at church once a month, condemnation will tell you it should be monthly, outside of church as well. If you fast when the Lord asks you to, or simply when you choose to, condemnation will tell you that you should fast every week. If you read your bible for 30 minutes this morning, condemnation will say you should have read it for an hour. If you read it for an hour, it will say you should have read it for 2 hours. If you like to spend time with the Lord in the morning; letting Him wash you with the word or strengthening your inner man, condemnation will say you HAVE to do it every morning "or else". Condemnation will whisper things like, "you're not loving God enough", "you're not doing enough for the Lord", and "If God was really good and powerful, why are those things happening?" If you talk to the Lord throughout your day, condemnation will turn it into a work; convince you that you HAVE to do it every day, for a specific amount of time each day, in order to have his presence draw near to you. Condemnation will tell you to make a purposeful effort to be thankful for a designated amount of time in order to receive God's miracles. Condemnation will tell you that you won't receive blessings, you won't receive miracles, you won't receive favor, you won't have his presence in its fullness, or see signs and wonders if you aren't doing a list of spiritual disciplines. Condemnation, in this area, will ALWAYS give you a list of rules to follow. Anytime you set a "bar" for yourself, a measuring stick with which to measure whether or not you think you're doing "good", that's the enemy speaking to you through law. It's not a coincidence that it's called the ministry of condemnation.
Family, Gifts, and Social Examples
If you have two kids, condemnation will make you feel like you should have three. If you want children, but aren't able to have them yet, condemnation will convince you that you aren't worthy of having them. If you have the gift of speaking to groups, condemnation will make you feel unworthy in front of someone who speaks to groups larger than yours. If you're gifted at singing, condemnation will convince you that your voice isn't like so-and-so's. If you like to keep a small, close-knit circle of friends, condemnation will say you're not popular like your sister who has 1200 Facebook friends. If you have a Dad who shows you love and affection, condemnation will make you upset that he doesn't buy you lots of stuff. If you're skilled at writing, it will try to tell you you're not that skilled or you would be writing books. If you love to swim for fun, condemnation will say you're wasting your time if you're not making something of it.
MAN! I can finally say that my anger is aimed at the proper source here. I am SO ANGRY that Satan deceives SO many people and puts them under pressures that God NEVER intended them to be under! The Lord wants all of these pressures, laws, rules, regulations and religious tasks to bring everyone to the end of themselves, so they will surrender, but it is VERY difficult for me to watch it happening! I made a comment once that the fruit of the spirit cannot be manifested in those who are too busy trying to make it manifest. That is WORKS, NOT FRUIT. The truth is, believers can all accomplish the same things, but God is not concerned about the things. He's concerned about your heart motive behind it. If you are trying to achieve holiness by the things you do because you think it's doing those things that achieves holiness, your motive is not in the right place and Satan has you under CONDEMNATION!
The freedom that comes with being established in the TRUE gospel of grace, is knowing who you are in Christ and that who you are supersedes everything else! It's knowing that your relationship with the Lord exists WITHOUT the spiritual disciplines; those merely are a reminder, confirmation of who you already are. It's being free to enjoy your relationship with the Lord however the two of you interact; NOT based on how many times you did x, y, z. It's a relationship, NOT RELIGION. Let the Lord love you and stop trying to earn from Him; it's an insult to Christ Jesus.
