There is a small degree of shock that can occur from the surprise of an alarm sounding. This may temporarily rattle a subject's train of thought; perhaps even deter them from entering your home. But when all is said and done, at the end of the day; ADT or any other home security system can't protect you.
Ephesians 6:12 "For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood contending
only with physical opponents, but against the despotisms, against the powers,
against the master spirits who are the world rulers of this present darkness,
against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly supernatural sphere." 2 Corinthians 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds…" Children of God will never be victorious if they don't grab a hold of these truths.
Satan does not care about alarm systems. If he can hurt you, he will; and he doesn't have to come through your front door or windows to do it. An alarm system can't stop him just as much as your fists, your dog, your gun or any other physical barrier can't stop him. He's invisible and can't be fought with visible, tangible weapons; they are spiritual beings in the spirit realm.
This happened in Acts 19 when the sons of Sceva tried to command demons out of people. They didn't have the authority over them, and the demons knew it! The sons acted like they had authority by saying "Jesus", but demons won't come out or go away just because you said "Jesus"; even THEY know the power comes from having Christ in you and you wielding the authority. If you don't know who you are and the truth of who God is, you can say "In the name of Jesus" all day; the demons will know, and they'll mock you while they tear you apart.

In their case, the man with the demon inside of him leaped on the sons and violently beat them so badly that they escaped their house terrified, naked, and wounded! Did you catch that? A man jumped two other guys and ravaged them; beat the snot out of them so hard they ended up naked and wounded. Hmm...where have you heard this kind of stuff happening; perhaps every day on the news?
Nothing evil that happens, happens because of people. Your battle is spiritual; supernatural evil spirits are the ones manipulating them. You may temporarily prevent an intruder from entering your home with an alarm system; but you will not stop the devil from entering your life and hurting you. In fact, Satan is the one who assigned a spirit to make you fearful in the first place; every time you enter your pass code; that fear goes deeper and deeper without you even knowing it.
If this is you; the enemy is already inside your house; your alarm didn't stop him.
