Are you discouraged about the desires of your heart; afraid to ask God for them because you feel like they don't line up with what He wants? There is so much confliction in the church about this; children of God are torn, and with legitimate reason because their spirit man knows the truth, but religion has burdened their soul with fear.
I lived with this same struggle. I was constantly afraid to ask God for anything because people in the church always told me it was wrong; especially if what I wanted was something I liked, enjoyed or appeared over-indulgent in their opinion. There is valid concern for those who are in bondage; we don't know what we want when our hearts aren't healed or there's anything in the soul realm that hasn't been dealt with. God is so good, He won't give us things we think we want sometimes because He knows when we're delivered; our true desires are revealed.
Proverbs 16:3 (AMP) reads, “Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and
trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to
His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.” The key to your desires being in agreement with God's will is to commit to and WHOLLY trust Him with your life and what you do. When you do that; not only will your God-given desires surface, but YOUR plans will be established and succeed!
It's all about your FAITH. There is no failure in faith; if you trust the Lord when you make a decision, He will order your steps. He cares and is serious about the desires of your heart; it's one of His promises to those who follow Him, but He cares more about you putting your faith in Him than the actual thing you desire.
